proof you can link anything to Thomas Pynchon?

In Thomas Pynchon's novel Vineland, coastal Northern California is a haunted land of dripping redwood forests and leftover hippie enclaves from the 1960s. The hippie enclaves have mostly been replaced by wineries, spas and expensive boutiques, but the forests are deep as ever. And western Sonoma County this weekend hosts one of the premier age-group long-course triathlons in North America.
